John Mawer started doing stand up in 1995 and improvisation a few years later. In 1999 he won the HEA Damage national comedy competition held at the Comedy Store. Between 1998 and 2002 he ran two london stand-up comedy clubs, three improvisations groups, a double act and two edinburgh shows. In 2002 John took his own two man comedy theatre show, The XX Factor, to the Pleasance theatre for the Edinburgh festival. During the 2003 Festival he helped run "Some comedians without Peter Buckley Hill", performed his one man play "Speed Date" in the 5065 Lift, made a short film and guested with "This is Soap". John currently performs and runs a regular Islington improvisational show and trawls his standup set around the London comedy circuit.
